He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live to please themselves. Instead, they will live to please Christ, who died and was raised for them. 2 Corinthians 5:15
This new life we have through Christ is meant to lift him up and give him glory. Our human nature is to live for ourselves and our drive becomes the fulfillment of our own purpose, not God’s. When we become this new creation through Christ, our focus changes. We submit ourselves to God and his authority. We give our lives over to him for his leading and direction. As former slaves to sin, we are now servants of God willingly submitting to his service. This goes against the human way of living. Instead of pursuing our own gains and wealth, we are pursuing God’s purpose and will as we encounter the benefits of a relationship with Christ. You have the honor of representing God to this world.
Therefore if anyone is in Christ [that is, grafted in, joined to Him by faith in Him as Savior], he is a new creature [reborn and renewed by the Holy Spirit]; the old things [the previous moral and spiritual condition] have passed away. Behold, new things have come [because spiritual awakening brings a new life]. 2 Corinthians 5:17 AMP
As a former slave to sin, what has come alive in you as a new creation?
